Hi all,

I am due my 5 sessions next week, just wondered if anyone else is having treatment next week too?

I had radiotherapy on the other breast in 2013, 15 sessions plus 5 boost, so I know roughly what to expect.  I’ve bought some Flamigel RT as others mentioned it.

Hope to find a treatment buddy Grinning

  • Hi , good luck with the rest of your treatments.

I have bought Flamigel RT, as saw others had used. Last time I had R1/R2 gel and cream and those really helped.

Back in 2013 I had the 15 plus 5 boost so understand how tiring it gets. They did warn me I may get upset at the end of treatments, and I did. I think I just got into routine and then all of a sudden nothing.

Thinking of everyone having treatment this week. Hugs to all. Xx

  • Hi, hope you got on okay today!

  • Hi Colette,

    How did you get on?

They we’re running late, so quite a wait. But was okay. Compared with last time I felt my breast was hot afterwards, and but of pain, nothing too horrendous. Slapping on the Flamigel. They were a bit doubtful about it at first, but read about it and said yes use from day 1.

What time are you there today? 4pm for me.

    Hoping you’re okay. Karen x

  • Both yesterday and today went okay, slightly longer yesterday to align me correctly, they came in to adjust it a bit before starting. The said they'll do x-rays before the treatment starts. Noticed that I had to hold my breath for longer than the x-rays and the simulator. Actually started to panic that I'd missed them on the intercom, but was fine. Thought I was a tad short of breath when I came out today, so hoping it'll be okay. I was hospitalised for breathing issues during chemo, so I'm a bit wary about this treatment anyway, but... I'm doing as I'm told!

My appointments are all around 1pm, though they can run a little late

  • I'll have a look at flamigel, if there are any changes. I've had a red bit on my breast for a while that I've been told to keep an eye on, so hoping the radiotherapy doesn't make it worse

  • Hi Colette,

    Glad you’re doing okay.

I too have the scan/X-ray before each treatment. I think they check your not swelling etc?

I had to get repositioned half way through today, I felt the arm rest slip a bit and apparently the computer said I’d moved. It’s all so clever really.

I had round block operation (twice) and noticed slight twinge in the scar area.

Tomorrow we will over half way - hooray. Friday my worst time 0830 and over an hours drive away Rofl

Hope you get a good nights sleep. xx

  • Yeah, it's amazing stuff! They told me not to worry if I started to breathe, as the machine would know and stop working. So clever. Yay for being nearly half way through! Got a consultant appointment tomorrow too, so I'll be up there for a while. Nightmare time for your Friday session, especially since you're so far away. I'm a few miles away, but I've walked for some appointments before if it's been a nice day. Hope you rest well too x

  • Hi , just thinking you’ll now be more than half way through your treatment. Hope it still is going okay. I’ve been slapping on the Flamigel.

I hope you’re managing to get some rest and the tiredness isn’t too overwhelming. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

  • Morning Colette, good luck with your Consultant appointment.  As you say the staff are amazing, but be a tough job, and so fiddly getting everyone in the right position etc.

I had treatment at two different centres, the main one is only 20-30 minutes away, so not too bad. Just the Friday early start will be tough….

Hope everyone having treatment at the moment are doing well, and those waiting for results fingers crossed for you all. Xx

  • Hi glad treatment going well. This may or may not help. I had x15 sessions of radiotherapy all fine. It's afterwards with some folk including me the tiredness kicks in and the burns come up I had two red sore patches below my collar bone  but with cream and lovely cold Aloe Vera from the fridge coped fine. I also got one patch on my back which is where it comes out apparently. I do have stiffness under my arm but exercise is helping. Just to make you aware you may be totally fine. Good luck xx
