Hi all
I’ve had 2 EC Chemo and ended up in A&E from waves of pain running down my spine. Turns out the pain was a water infection which they gave me antibiotics for but they did a D-Dimer blood test and the markers were high. The doctor said it’s either a blood clot on my lung or possibly more cancer! I left crying my eyes out with pill to reduce the possible clot and a Ct scan booked to confirm.
I called the chemo team first thing in the morning to see how concerned I should be. They said they would call me back but I haven’t heard from them in 3 days.
has anyone had a similar issue? I’m just left worrying x x
thanks for reading
Hi Munchkin
Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer and that you possibly have a blood clot on your lung or more cancer. I’m surprised that you haven’t heard back from your chemo team yet. you haven’t heard back from them by Monday give them another ring.
While I was undergoing treatment in December 2020 I had a possible clot in my lung and they did a CT Scan. Luckily they didn’t find anything so hopefully you will be ok. However if it does turn out to be something your team will deal with it.
Best of luck with your CT Scan when you have it.
Best wishes

Hi Munchkin, sorry if you get this reply twice(the first one disappeared)
sorry you have got this worry. Sounds very much like my situation last month. Ended up in A&E with chest pain . Heart tests came back normal but blood test shown D-diner levels raised so suspected blood clot in lung. After scans , X-rays ect turns out no blood clot. Nurse said d-diner can be raised for lots of other reasons but when I googled ( I know I shouldn’t ) it did say it could be cancer elsewhere . No one has mentioned it since so I’m clinging onto the hope it might be something else. It made me feel like I’d gone through chemo and all the treatment for nothing. It’s awful when no one tells you anything.I hope the chemo team get back to you with some information.
I went to A&E with chest pains and my D-diner level was raised. One of the senior doctors ordered a CT scan on the spot (clear) and said that chemo can raise it, so it's often a false reading unless really high.
This is really reassuring, hopefully that’s the case for me thank you x
I actually wondered if chemo could be responsible for it but no one mentioned it so was like Munchkin was left worrying. Hopefully this is the reason our levels were raised and not due to more cancer .
No they never even mentioned anything so I carried on and completed my last chemo infusion a few days after I was discharged from hospital. I have a telephone appointment with my oncologist on 23rd so think I will ask her opinion regarding the raised level .
