I don’t even know what to write it even say here, i just wanted to hear if anyone had a story or anything about this type of cancer?
I was diagnosed with lobular breast cancer last June. I'm 53. It was 35mm with a smaller 4 mm tumour next to it. I had a lumpectomy last August with clear margins and no lymph node involvement. My surgeon said that when histology looked at the tumour it was a mix of lobular and ductal.
Because I'm HER2 I had to have chemo (3 EC & 9 paclitaxel) plus 5 sessions of radiotherapy. This was a mopping up exercise to blast any rogue cancer cells. I finished all my treatment in March and now back at work.
Im still having Herceptin injections and taking tablets. Life slowly getting back to normal.
Thank you that,
and again that’s great news,
how did you find the radiotherapy?
I’ve got to have an mri in 2 weeks to Check it all out as I all so calcifications,
then they will decide if it’s a lumpectomy or mastectomy,
then blast of radiotherapy,
Ive also got to have loads more biopsy’s
thank you for telling me your story it’s really given me a more positive out look at this
Hi Dee79,
Sorry you find yourself here but this site is great for information and support .
i was diagnosed with lobular breast cancer last July , I’m 54 and had a large area 9.5cm , 2 sentinel nodes affected so also had auxiliary clearance after mastectomy. Just finished 6 rounds of chemo, then onto radiotherapy and hormone suppressant .
From what I’ve read , lobular tends to be a bit sneaky as doesn’t present as a lump like most tumours so is harder to detect and also missed a lot on mammograms (as was the case with mine) It is very often hormone receptive. I also had a small amount of dcis .
Good morning,
yeah I deffo didn’t think this was how I’d be spending this month I tell you,
im 42, I’d found a lump which turned out to be nothing and they found this whole doing a scan after the mammogram,
I can’t think right now how big it in in cm/mum etc but I work it out to just under and inch With also calcifications, I’ve got a mri scan in 2 weeks and il find out more then,
yeah Google did say it’s a sneaky one,
how’re you in yourself?
You will get a better idea of size ect if you are having an MRI scan . Mine was a lot bigger than they originally thought, which was rather scary at the time ,which makes me wonder how long it had actually been there and how many mammograms missed it .
It’s been a tough few months with ops scans and chemo, which I am trying to recover from. It’s mentally and physically draining but I’m plodding along . So glad to be through the other side of chemo though.
Try to stay off Google , I know it’s hard but I made that mistake and ended up frightening myself to death . A lot of information on there is outdated.
Yeah same here I’m like wow how long have I had this too, because they say it’s not fast growing,
yeah I bet it just took it out of you completely,
yeah I did the Google thing and then was like you scaring myself so yeah I promise no more Google crap,
that’s why when I seen this y’day I thought this will be better for info for myself
Hi Dee,
I don't mind you asking. It was 32mm on scan. I had a mastectomy and a temporary implant initially, then lymph node removal on one side. Because it had travelled to lymph nodes I had 6 months of chemo followed by 3 weeks of daily radiotherapy. Reconstructive surgery was delayed due to covid so only had that last year. I'm 55 now, was 51 when diagnosed.
The radiotherapy was a doddle compared to chemo. I only had 5 though and very minor skin reactions.
