Had my last herceptin injection today which is the end of active treatment boy did that year go quick. I feel elated and a bit in limbo as I havent a clue what happens next ? I had my first mammogram last Friday since last year's diagnosis any one know what happens next regards Belinda
It varies from one NHS trust to another. Where I am, I believe oncology wants to see you about 3-4 times a year for the first 3 years, then the frequency reduces, and discharge after 5 years if no issues. This may only be true for certain types of cancer, best to check where you are, specific to yourself, as this will depend on how that NHS trust works, and possibly also on individual factors.
Big congratulations for getting to the end of active treatment!
Hi Beenea69
Congratulations on getting to the end of active treatment. Where I am my breast surgeon saw me every three months since my operation and I had my first yearly mammogram last Tuesday. After the next quarterly meeting with my breast surgeon I will then move to seeing him twice a year for the next four years.
Wishing you the best of luck with the results of your mammogram when you get them.
Best wishes
