Got an appointment for the above. Letter states appointment can take up to 3 hours. What on earth do they do that takes this long?

  • They always say that, often because the appointments don’t actually run to time so you could wait a fair time, it almost certainly won’t take that long. From memory they just ran through the chemo again with me, checked I understood, I signed some consent forms, I think that was it Thinkingx

  • Hi Gander

    How amazing is this site?

Its my come to when we all need to vent, ask questions or just read other peoples posts in which a lot as really helped me personally although I'm still very new to all of it

I too was told it would take up to 3 hours for my first chemo session,I think they have to do all the checks of the right dosage's  ,talk you through everything etc..

It's been a crap week, letters arriving almost everyday I just keep thinking What Now?

I have 2 appointments next week at  different hospitals Wednesday I go for a NM Cardiac ventriculography rest test ,Friday having the picc line in , then bloods and then first chemo a few days after.(15th March)But I know this is all needed for a positive outcome fingers crossed.

It may sound silly but it as helped me in my mindset that in the next few months  I'm treating this journey in my head as I'm in a cul de sac of friends(nurses, doctors, others on chemo the same day etc..) houses visiting some for an hour and others for longer and each door I go through and have a catch up with how things are going   I know I'll come out of to go on to the next until my treatment comes to an end.

     Good luck

  • My chemo also starts on 15th March. I also have ECHO hearts can booked, haircut, visiting friends, Covid test, assessment etc. Been away for few days to Lake District and had family  here for my birthday celebrations last 2 weekends. Busy, busy, which is taking my mjnd off things. Got my wig ready, hair being cut short Wednesday in readiness.
