Hi all. I was diagnosed with IDC in my right breast. This week I have been for full body CT which is yet to be reported and MRI of the breasts. The MRI has picked up an area in my left breast, I have to have a biopsy. When I was told about the right side my consultant was very confident it could be treated. I am now back in a stare of panic if it is in both breast. The plan was to have a mastectomy and reconstruction on the right. Does anyone else on her have it in both breasts? I should mention, both sides, glands are clear
Hi anxious mum, sorry you have this worry. There are a few ladies on here similar to your diagnosis so hopefully they will see this and reply. Anything I say right now to calm you probably won’t untill you know your plan. I have had the worrying you have too. You will have more peace of mind once you know the plan of treatment.
Try be easy on yourself, it will be fine x
Hi anxiousmum,
I had IDC in right breast, grade three in two areas and a small area of grade 1 in left.. another possible area was flagged from MRI turned out to be clear. Plans changed a couple of times so
i know how hard it is being told it’s on one side and when you get full news it’s both, it does give you a sleepless night or two. But, all I can say is your team will be excellent & have plans in place for any eventuality.
I will keep everything crossed for you that the left is clear
Hiya. Thank you for replying. It really is terrifying. I'm glad to hear it was a small area on yours. How are you doing with treatment?
Hi it is so worrying, and this community has been a godsend … even though I respond rarely - reading through other peoples worries and the answers - has really helped me xx
I had surgery on both sides & reconstruction… then I had to wait a while for an oncotype, (over 6 weeks) so, we had a plan.. but they wanted to be certain. And now I have just got that back with a high (59) score -which surprised even them! But, it only changed the plan a little.. so I sart chemo next week until July, then radiotherapy 15 sessions & then 10years of endocrine therapy.. but, it’s ok - I’ve got this. I’d rather go through this than be told there is not treatment and wait on that inevitable outcome..
And I took the decision to cut my hair really short yesterday.. as losing short hair seemed to be a better option than long hair! And it was quite empowering to have something in my control xx
I really hope you get the answers you need very quickly & they are in your favour ️
H xx
