Hello anyone out there with knowledge of this test please? I was not offered it and not sure if it would be of benefit to me as I have now completed my treatment. However, I am HER2 neg, ER8 and PR0. I have got a bit muddled with the grades and stages, but was told I had grade 2 and then after the two operarions it was stage 3, but with no lymph nodes involved. I have had 2 WLE operations, last one achieved clear margins, and 5 day radiotherapy. I don't have the BRCA gene. But, I'm constantly thinking it isn't all over and it will come back. Should I ask for the test or am I just worrying for nothing
Hi I’ve had the test (unknowingly) and got the results a week before starting chemo. The test showed that my cancer was at a low risk of spreading or recurring. On the strength of this my consultant said she was not going to do chemo.
I don’t know if it would be possible for it to be done now as they look at the genetic sequence of the cancer and score it. Mine came back as 13. Unless there is a tissue sample to send to California, it wouldn’t be possible to do.

Hi
Unless they saved some tissue. Not all trusts offer it. I was lucky that mine changed during my treatment from only offering to patients with no node involvement to those with up to three. I had 2. My oncologist got as much of a surprise with the results as I did! I had resigned myself to chemo so it came as a shock. A week later and I would have started treatment.

Hi,
The Oncotype DX is done after Surgery but before other treatment's commence, as you've had radiotherapy now I doubt very much if they would even consider the oncotype test. Oncotype Dx doesn't give total reassurance the disease won't return, I've seen ladies on here saying they've had a recurrence even after a low score, chemo also doesn't offer total protection from a cancer recurrence. I think once you've had a cancer diagnosis theirs always something to worry about regarding it recurring, I'm 3 years post surgery and still worry but not nearly as much as I used to.
Don't worry about it , it sounds like you doing ok Oncotype costs are high £3000 but I don't think thats why they didn't offer it as money should not cone into it. They probably felt you didn't need it. My test came back high so I had chemo. I glad as my risk will have fallen now. My big fear was it would come back boarder line at 24 and they would make me choose to have chemotherapy or not. They have only been doing them routinely for about 2 years so it's to soon to tell how successful they will be at predicting reoccurance. But if your score is low under 25 they often don't offer Chemotherapy , again that would make me worry too. It's all a worrying situation . Take care
Thanks Rhiwbina, you're right, they probably thought I didn't need it. I wish you all the best with your treatment.
