Hello! I would never have dreamed to write on here but I just wondered if anyone else was in my position or had the same experience as me as I am not sure what to think.

I have found some lumps in my left breast, which are quite hard and painful. The breast also feels sore and sensitive, and also changed in size. I have noticed this over 2-3 weeks.  I booked an appointment to see the nurse, and she looked at it yesterday, confirmed she could find lumps in my breast. She went to ask the advice of the doctor who has advised to monitor it for 2 weeks, and come back in 2 weeks for another examination. If the lumps are still there, then I will be referred to the breast clinic.

just wondered if anyone else has had these symptomise and an extra wait? As I wish they would just refer me now so that I can get answers!

I wonder if it is because my age (26) that they are waiting?  Thank you for your help! Xx

  • Yes. This can sometimes happen, that they see a young woman and figure it couldn't possibly be that. Not saying this is what is motivating your nurse and doctor, but it's not unheard of either.

Not all lumps and painful breasts are the result of cancer, but obviously this need to be investigated so that a definite cause can be found.

  • Hi,

It can happen, mine was a long wait.

I found my lump after a trip to the hospital and they thought it was an infection of my lymp node, was given antibiotics and told to come back in 3 weeks if still their.

Then had about a month wait to for an appointment at the breast clinic.

Mine was bad news , and everyone was surprised as mine wasn't a standard cancer lump as they thought it was dense tissue on ultra sound.

Sometimes lumps come and go and are harmless. I'm guessing that's what they are doing, just seeing what happens which can be a constant anxiety.

If GP is  monitoring it, if they are available to speak to, give them a call and discuss your concerns and worries, & discuss the lump.

    Hope my post helps ,
