Hi all you lovely ladies I hope you're ok. I just wanted to ask if anyone else has pain in their breast (the kne with the cancer) I have 3 cycles of chemo but am getting twinges and pulls in the are of the tumour. I worry it's spreading rather than reducing Has anyone else had the same or know what this can mean.
Many thanks and wishing you all the very best
Vicki
Hello Vicki. Did you have any surgery prior to starting chemo? I had some similar pains during chemo and when I mentioned it to my breast care nurse she said that this would be down the breast tissue still healing following a lumpectomy & node biopsy as it can take some time for everything to 'settle'. I think if you're concerned then it's probably best to raise it with your nurse/team and they will check you over if they think it's necessary x
Hi Vicki
I dont know what it means but I think I have something similar where my cancer is (mine is secondary in the lymph nodes in my neck). I get stabbing pains that last for seconds and aren't constant but definitely the stabbing pain is to a lymph node. I take it as a good sign - someone else described it as pacman chemo!
As lalalou said maybe ask your team.
Take care.
I had pains in my tumour during chemo at about the same time I thought I could feel it growing. When I queried it my oncologist couldn't say with certainty what was causing that pain.
When they finally took the tumour out it turned out it had not grown at all, in fact it may have shrunk a little.
One theory that was mentioned was that the pain actually signalled the tumour's good response to chemo, in that it was feeling under attack and sending out pain signals, but this was just speculation.
I felt some twinges and odd sensations during chemo. When I mentioned this to my oncologist, she could not explain it, but said other ladies had shared similar experiences. Best of luck with your treatment
I seem to remember faint pain too, but I do love the idea of the tumour feeling under attack. It does actually make sense that you could be feeling some sensation there if it is changing shape and getting smaller. Remember, you didn't feel it getting bigger.
Also remember you are hyper-aware of it now. If you imagine for a minute that the tumour is in your foot, then I bet you start to feel twinges there. The mind does funny things sometimes!
