Here's a new thread for discussions around chemotherapy, as the existing threads were getting a little long.

Please do let us know if you have any other threads you think would be useful to link here.

  • at hospital on Monday i watched homes under the hammer - still going strong after all this time and then bargain hunt. it kept me going. i pakced myself a bag with a book and my tablet but i couldnt settle to either so just watched telly.

for lunch today i had chicken noodle soup with a bag of onion rings to try to excite the taste buds - it didnt work! Disappointed

    whinging definitely helps xx

  • Appointment with oncologist went well. I'm having 5 sessions of radiotherapy which will start 3 weeks after the end of chemo so roughly 7th March I think.

Ill need to have a CT scan and a planning scan first and also a bone density scan. The bone scan is because of the the hormone suppressing tablets.

I also asked if I could go on holiday too and she said yes

  • Hi Jacala,good news!glad appointment went well x

  • On the tv front ( glad the Winter Olympics are starting soon !)

im watching all the series of the old ‘ sex and the city ‘ it’s taking me back to the 90’s/ 00’s

it is a comedy , so not to be taking seriously - just having a pause, as Carrie driving me nuts Re Aidan/Big situation . I’m waiting for the breast cancer episodes when sexy Samantha loses her hair etc ,,,,

im  also watching the new ones too , final next week , nice to see them all in their mid 50’s , and how they are all doing / dating/ widowed  again at this age

my son tells me he’ll give me his prime password to watch the new Jack Reacher series on Amazon Prime , now he looks how I expect Reacher to look , not that stupid atom Cruise - a miss cast if ever!

  • Omg Jac. That is so amazing to hear and so happy for you. I do wonder what about travel insurances.

I have watched Emily in Paris but what happens at the end. It just stopped when Gabriel and gf moved in...is that the ending? I don't know what's happened there...lol

Struggling but ploughing through my bad days at the mo.

    C x

  • I can't wait for the Jack Reacher series to start, I've read all of the books, big fan! Hope it's good.

  • Looked into insurance and a years policy is about £200 for my partner (he had cancer in 2020) so I think that's quite good.

I think I have 3 episodes of season 1 of Emily in Paris left to watch. It's quite amusing, I've watched it whilst having chemo.

  • Love Jack reacher too

got my 21 year old into them a few years ago ( definitely not a reader , studying his masters in math)

I tried to see Lee Child  in my local dept store when he was touring , they took my ticket back said it was over booked!

I used to go to the crime book / authors  week at UEA ,

There i met my other fav author ( Canadian) Lynwood Barclay ,

he signed a few books for me for friends / nephews

  • How are you Ami post second chemo? Try salt water gargle for dry mouth?

How's the short hair? Still coping with the port which I think will take a little while to heal I guess. Had a rough night yesterday fr bone pains.

Today got two letters for kids detention. Sigh. Am I failing as a mum...I feel so Pensive  ...sure is trying! I am just looking forward to a time everything smells, taste and return to normal rather than upheaval that is right in front of me at present.

    How is everyone doing today?

    Cx

  • Hi Claud,so was a lot better than last time as I didn't take the ondansatron for the nausea, even the steroids aren't making me hungry which I always thought they did,it seems everything is having the opposite effect on me,I just hope the chemo works!

Mouth isn't sore any more just very dry, like the bottom of a bird cage lol.

Glad the port not giving you too much trouble.

Of course you're not failing as a mum,it's so hard and won't be forever X,stay strong and think of the future.
