Lump in throat ?... Literally.

I had a WLE of my left  for grade 2 IBC on 9th Sept of this year. Op went well, recovery great and had my 4 th of 5 RT today, that too is going well.  ..

Over the last few weeks I had a strange sensation of fullness in my  neck on the left side . ( I was diagnosed with early signs of arthritis possibly cervical spondylosis 3 or 4 years ago however this just doesn't feel the same. Its hard to describe really) .

I mentioned it to my then BCN who has since left but she didn't really seem concerned and I couldnt see or feel anything untoward so I just thought it's me being over anxious , turning every ache, pain etc into another cancer..

Well tonight I think I can feel something on the left of my windpipe. I'm trying not to worry and will contact the GP on Monday ( why does it always happen on the weekend).

I don't have a named BCN and only found out mine had left at my bone density scan. Should I ring them tomorrow for advice  , mention it at my next  and last Radiotherapy session on Monday  ?

Although I don't think they they can do anything maybe they might examine me or is it out of their remit.

My mind is whirling now and it's probably nothing to worry about at all  but..

Thanks for letting me ramble on here. I do feel a little better for sharing it.

Xx

  • Hi there, so sorry to hear you have this worry all over the weekend.  I'm not really sure that the weekend BCN team will be able to help but you can always have a chat with them, or give the Macmillan helpline a call to talk it through. I would definitely mention it at your radiotherapy appointment and talk to your GP.   Hope you can relax a little until you get some answers x

  • Lots of less scary explanations for a lump in your throat from swollen glands, to lipoma (fatty lump), to irritated neck muscle… and things that need treating like infections etc. My mum once had a lump for ages which turned out to be a piece of sweetcorn stuck on the back of a tonsil! Whatever it is, it isn’t likely to be dangerous in the short term and whatever it is, I’m sure the team will deal with it. One step at a time, don’t cross your bridges till you come to them. Hope you get sorted soon

    • Thank you, . and   I am going to put my old LPs on and chillax and am going to wait until Monday .I do think it as Anabrock says, something far less scary.

How strange about the sweetcorn Anabrock .that must have been a relief for your mum.

Thank you both for your kind and sensible replies..I hope you both have good weekends.
