Hi. I m 39 years old. Triple positive. Finished chemo in October and had surgery last week. Because my tumour is hormone 8/8 pro+ and estr+ dependant I will be offered treatment for the next 5-10 years. If you are premenopausal, no genes involved what treatment have you been offered?! Did you have a choice between only tablets or tablets and zoladex injection?! Have you suggested oopheroctomy yourself?! How your consultant explained the best course of treatment for you?! I just feel I want a nuclear option for myself to help reducing recurrence. Am I exadurating?! Please Give me some feedback ladies YumRelaxed️

  • Following a family history of bc, I went to my doctor about 8 years or so ago and basically asked what I could do…I was referred to the Oxford genetics dept, lots of form filling about family,, had an appt. and was recommended to have annual mammograms (I was about 45) So for about 5 years before I was diagnosed I had mammos….even one 8 months before I was diagnosed. Since diagnosis I contacted the genetics dept again and following a subsequent appt was tested for about 11 genes. It’s called a ‘panel’. I did not pay. Came back negative - which was great news but frustrating as there is such a high prevalence in my family my surgeon is convinced that one day they will find more links. My thoughts are with my kids and being able to protect them in the years to come…..

  • I had the genetic testing too as I have a strong family history, but like you, all negative. My oncologist also said I have a high risk of getting cancer again due to my age (mid-40s). Will ask about ovary removal at my next appointment. Thanks for your thoughts.
