Hi all…after diagnosis in January 2021 for breast cancer, doing 15 rounds of chemo, then told 23 rounds of radiotherapy.  I found a lump in the opposite breast with just 8 more radiotherapy sessions to go.  From my experience, I was obsessed with checking my 2nd breast during treatment but then got to grips with it and did it once a month.  So, when I found this lump I reported it straight away.  Got an appointment with my consultant within 8 days.  He sent me, on the appointment for an ultra sound, then a biopsy.  Whole time took an hour.  8 days later meet with my beast surgeon and told no cancer but he will take the pea lump out in 4 weeks ……..  I really cant praise the nhs so much with all the service they have done for me during covid.  Please all keep checking your breasts.

  • Wow, that’s quick. Glad it was all ok for you x

  • Also check your nipple. I couldn't feel a lump when I checked my breasts, even when I was told where the cancer was I couldn't feel it, but my nipple had contracted very slightly a few months previously which I put down to age changes. I was fortunate that it was found in a routine mammogram appointment.

  • Definitely agree, lumpectomy on Right side in Aug, finished radiotherapy in September and in October thought I’d check my left and there was a new lump.  Unfortunately biopsy came back positive for cancer - it’s very small ER positive/HR negative - I really wasn’t sure if it was a lump to be honest but they saw me fairly quickly too.  It’s not been so straight forward this time round as there have been other ups and downs but the main thing is they are working on it - the whole team has been wonderful.
