Hello everyone
I am just after a little bit of advice please. I had my first session on FEC-T chemo last week and was also given 8 days worth of filgastrim injections to take. Yesterday was my last injection but the pain in my lower back and legs is getting really unbearable now to the point that ibuprofen and co-codamol are not helping. Is this amount of pain normal after these injections? And how long after the last one will the pain start to subside? I am constantly checking my legs to make sure they aren’t swelling or have any redness etc so i am pretty convinced its not blood clots.
Any advice or just reassuring words that this is normal would be really appreciated. I think because this is my first session i am questioning everything and trying to figure out what is normal and i just need to plough on and what needs to be flagged up. Thank you
Hello Moomoo mummy. I'm on filagastrim injections too and I've been getting joint and lower back pain, although I only have 5 injections each cycle, not 8. I've noticed that the lower back pain is a lot worse after I've had my last injection - almost spasm like - but the symptoms tend to ease off during the next few days. It's a good idea to flag it up with your medical team to let them know as they may be able to prescribe better pain relief, and also keeping moving helps so try to have a daily walk if you can. Voltarol has helped me but I'm sure others who are on filigastrim will be along soon with some more tips x
I had 10 days of filgrastim each cycle but really only found the pain quite bad on the first cycle. It wasn't nearly as bad after that. It started improving about 2-5 days after the last injection.
Hang in there!
I did find having a warm bath helped immensely.
Hi, I found back pain and knee pain also. I had second cycle on Monday and am on 4th day if injections back is already sore. A tip on here was to do it later in day so as it's not disturbing you in the night, I checked with nurses and they said this was fine. Iv noticed it's now sore in day but moving around helps and isn't waking me in the night. Not that I'm getting much sleep. Xx
