Just found out that following surgery I will be required to have another 14 treatments every 3 weeks of Pertuzumab/Trastuzumab. Totally knocked me for six. Just wondered if anyone has been through this and is it as bad as chemotherapy as all the symptoms for these drugs sound exactly the same as chemo. Not sure I can face another 42 weeks of feeling ill.
Hi Charlie53
Yes I have these every three weeks. Had number 10 a couple of weeks ago and have 7 more to go. Infusions for 1st 9 cycles and now switched to Phasgo which is a combined injection instead, which is much quicker. Not like chemo at all. I get a bit of swelling of face and neck for a few days mid cycle with these, but I am led to believe that this is not unknown but is unusual.
No other side effects. Eating like a horse [normal] have taste and smell and hair is growing [slowly]. Also have full energy back and stamina for long walks and hills. I did see the list of possible SE too, but honestly I haven't had any, apart from the above. They did an Ecco last week to check heart function. Radiographic technician advised that it was squeezing nicely. Will get official report next week.
Good luck. These are the magic bullet treatments to prevent recurrence.

Me too! This is the usual treatment for HER2 positive cancer. It’s not been a problem for me. No significant side effects to speak of now I’m having it without the chemo at the same time xx
Hi mine was also ER positive /HER2 positive it does seem to be the norm I'm currently having Trastuzumab (herceptin) injections every 3 weekly I've had 10 now another 8 To go these are a breeze compared to chemo I don't feel ill with them injection in the thigh after 10 mins I go compared to weekly infusions hanging around for 2 hours mind you I was lucky I wasn't sick with chemo at all hope all goes well and you to have an easier time with them than chemo regards belinda x
Thank you. Glad your treatment is going well x
Hi, I had my first 6 by IV with chemo and this week I will have my 5th Phesgo injection, and 7 more after that. As the others have said, this is a breeze compared to chemo and I have had no side effects whatsoever with these. Good luck x
