Hi,
Had my appointment & was told yes it’s BC it’s described as invasive ductal or ductal invasive. & grade 3. The samples of my lymph nodes they took were clear (at the moment). I feel much better knowing what I’m dealing with infact I feel better than I have the last 2 weeks, it’s a crazy thing. The consultant & BCN were so so good. First thing he said was ‘this is nothing you did’ like he’d read my mind.
I have the option of a lumpectomy or a mastectomy. I said I was worried about it coming back if I didn’t have a mastectomy. He said that the chances of it returning were the same for both (very slim) ♀️. If I have a lumpectomy then have to have radiotherapy (this is obvs standard procedure). I had missed the Wednesday MDT meeting last week as my results weren’t back so I’m being discussed this week & the plan. He said probably chemo would be needed but again would need to discuss at the meeting. He did mention that they might want to do the chemo before the op but that just feels so strange I would just rather cut it out now!!
My receptors weren’t back either so should also know that by Wednesday. He said the amount of women that have a lumpectomy that have to have a second op cos of margins was 1 in 10. I don’t really know what to think yet. Any advice would be great & sorry if this is muddled.
Thank you all.

Hi Charls
Sorry to hear that it was breast cancer. It’s not that unusual for chemo to be done before the operation. It usually depends on the size of your tumour weather you have chemo or surgery first.
I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer last year which was grade 3. I had chemo first to reduce the size of my tumour. The chemo worked in that my tumour shrunk from 16mm down to just 3mm. I am now in remission following chemo, surgery and radiotherapy.
The best advice I can give you is to take each day as it comes.
Wishing you the best of luck with whatever treatment your medical team give you.
Best wishes

Hi Charls
I'm sorry you are having to have treatment for cancer . But That's great about your lymph nodes. It's a hard one deciding to have either a maesectomy or lumpectomy . Take your time making the decision, more and more cancer treatment is tailored to individual cancer and lots of people have chemotherapy first.
Take care
