Bone pain so intense

  • Hi, so sorry, I can hear your pain.

Have you been given any painkillers? When my pain gets bad (although I doubt it is as bad as yours) I take codrydamol but won't pretend it makes a great deal of difference. If it is at night and I can't sleep I take it with some hot milk with honey and that makes me feel comforted enough to drop off.  Ask for a change to either letrozole or exemestane. I changed from Letrozole to exemestane and find this marginally better. My experience is a little compromised by having some osteoarthritis along with this.

I have also heard that Vit B12 might help - I am considering this.
I am also planning to ask my local Macmillian centre if I can have some acupuncture which I was due for but the pandemic
stopped. Some research says this can help.
    Much love x
  • Hi Rozalia

Thank you so much for your reply, and thank you for the link. The pain has escalated and like you I have osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. I will look into your suggestions as any help would be welcome. Thank you and take care.

  • Hi Casput

We sound quite similar. If you come across anything that helps do please let me know and I will do similar.

I think I saw on another stream you were asking about CBD. I started to reply but then for some reason, I lost this thread and couldn't access what I wrote. If it was you, I do take CBD oil. I originally took it prior to my cancer diagnosis when I was getting particularly bad pain in my knees and ankle (I injured my ankle some 17 years ago, was told at A&E to walk on it and hence my problems began). I took Jacob Hooy from Holland and Barrett and must confess I was taking it frequently and quite a lot. The taste is disgusting but it did seem to help. The pain didn't go completely but it became bearable. I also intermittently had steroid injections which worked for short periods. I stopped the CBT when I began chemo. My oncologist was happy for me to continue but I decided not to risk compromising the treatment. I don't know about you but the silver lining to my cancer treatment was that my osteoarthritis all but disappeared. The chemo nurses said that other chemo patients reported a similar experience - presume it was the amount of oral steroids being given to me. Pain has now returned with the added joint pain from the aromatase inhibitor. I hate and very much resent it. I try to exercise it daily (Online Zumba session with Cindy via YouTube) and a daily 30-45 minute walk. I don't enjoy it much because of the pain in my feet and ankles. I have resumed the CBD oil I am taking one which is supposed to be stronger than the Jacob Hooy but I am not sure how effective it is. It is expensive but I basically go for the best Holland and Barratt offer. I take the drops under my tongue, I think that is the most effective. I usually take it twice a day. I am used to the foul taste but used to follow the drops with apple juice to help alleviate it.

I am not sure how much it helps but I think a bit.

One thing I find very annoying is being told that it would help if I lost weight. I dare say it would but I would like to know how. One reason I stopped the letrozole was despite managing to lose 2 stones I immediately put it back on. The exemestane hasn't helped me lose this but my weight is a least stable all be it in the very obese category.

Sorry a long rant ignore if you weren't asking about CBD

Hope you are feeling less awful.

    Xx
