I’ve finally completed my treatment for breast cancer after first being diagnosed on 31st March! After a MRR scan, lumpectomy, CT Scan, bone scan, auxiliary node clearance as cancer had spread to a lymph node, my last treatment of radiotherapy was yesterday. Got back into my car and burst into tears! I had so many emotions. I’m now on Letrozole for the next ten years.
I cannot thank the wonderful NHS enough. Everyone that I’ve seen have been so kind and caring.  I will now have to have yearly MRI scans as my cancer wasn’t picked up on two mammograms, luckily I could feel a lump!
Sending everyone on this site lots of good wishes. This forum has been so helpful to me.
Fingers crossed for not many side effects from the radiotherapy and Letrozole!
Lots of love

    Thank you Daisy

  • Congratulations !!! I've just completed Day 7 of radiotherapy. Did you have any side effects at all from the radiotherapy ? It is quite emotional isn't it. Wishing you all the very best. I feel my cancer wasn't picked up on mammogram either, so that is one of my questions you've answered, request an MRI.

Congratulations too! How many sessions are you having? I had five sessions. Side effects so far are slight tender skin and tiredness but not sure if that’s the Letrozole that I’m taking. Radiographer said some side effects can take up to three weeks to appear. Spoke to my BC nurse today and I will have both a mammogram and MRI scan.

  • 15. You reminded me to get that moisturising done. I think its really beneficial to have an MRI. I mean, considering the cost to the NHS of all the treatment for breast cancer that's developed aggressively in women, without them knowing, it's a win win really I would have thought. I was diagnosed in March as well.

My treatment was condensed into 5 rather than 15.
Yes, keep moisturising twice a day.  Are you also taking a drug?
Good luck with the rest of the treatment.
