Hi All
I wonder if any of you lovely experienced people can help me please?
I’m due to have my 8th of 9 herceptin injection next Wednesday; although I am awaiting an echo scan on my heart. Usually my scan dates come through in a couple of days but it’s been over two weeks.
I called my treatment centre today, after they told me to call back if I hadn’t heard anything and was told if has been requested and I would just have to wait! Not sure why I was told to call back it that was their response. I called the scan center and they have not had my referral as yet and said they would have received it had it been sent on the 12th. So in a bit of a stale maybe at the moment! I was told if I don’t have my scan I cannot have my herceptin
My question does anyone know how long can you delay having herceptin (usually have it every 3 wks) without it being a problem. And if it is a problem, what is the problem!
Thanks very much in advance for taking the time to read my post ️
I am about to start Phesgo, so injections of Herceptin and Pertuzumab. I was chatting to the oncologist about my 3 week cycle as one falls when I am due to be away on holiday and she was really relaxed s out delaying got for a week or even longer. Hope this helps and hope you get your appointments soon
Aw thanks for the reply Irishgirl; that’s reassuring to know, hopefully it won’t be much longer then a week x
Thanks for the reply Stonbsy; that’s reassuring to know, I’ve been concerned as on line it insinuates you shouldn’t leave it past a week (teach me to research online!) x
I’ve also had mine delayed as I’m waiting for a MUGA scan as I had a raised heartbeat after my last chemo. I’m now two weeks past when I should have had it and will be at least another week - longer if it’s delayed until after surgery. My chemo team say I don’t need to worry about it at all. I know some women have Herceptin paused between chemo and surgery.
I hope you get your results soon
Ruby xx
Hi Clarissa1
Have you checked again whether they have received your referral for the Echo yet? I would be phoning up to the onc/specialist nurse to tell them if Echo don't have it by now.
In my hospital there was a wee glitch at my last visit for herceptin & pertuzumab infusions. Apparently, I should have been at onc clinic or had a telephone appointment and bloods before it. No one had given me the blood forms on the previous visit nor had anyone given me an appointment for the onc clinic. At first they were going to postpone the H&P and were behaving as if I had failed to attend......... I was a bit upset and for sure did not offer to leave.
In the end I did get my treatment, but it took hours extra as the drugs had not been ordered from pharmacy etc and when I spoke to specialist nurse next day she apologised and SAID THAT THERE WAS A NOTE TO THE SECTRETARIES TO SEND OUT THE APPOINTMENT BUT FOR WHATEVER REASON THAT HAD OBVIOUSLY NOT HAPPENED. [sorry didnt mean to use caps]
Real life happens - so just in case something similar has happened to your referral, keep on it.
Wishing you all the best
