Breast cancer

Hi I had a lumpectomy 18 months ago but I have noticed that the last couple of days my breast has started to swell it's not sore or red but it is definitely larger than my right breast the lump was taken frme the left and it has been smaller than my right as a result but not anymore I will ring my breast nurse tomorrow but any advise on here please is this normal so many months down the line thanks x

  • Hi Glamorousgranny welcome to the forum and sorry to hear about how worried that you are.

    This could be  a degree of fluid which can build up and is called Lymphoedema and you need to ask to be referred to a lymphodema clinic to be seen there and the breast nurse should be able to arrange this for you.  It is not uncommon for this to happen but nor one we often get much information about.

    The breast nurse may wish to see you to examine you and that wouldnt be such a bad idea just to check that this is what this is.

    Thanks granny 59 I am ringing my nurse today I'm just waiting on them starting their shift we seem to wait around a lot for one thing or another during this journey but hopefully I will get some answers today good luck everyone xx
