I have had stage 2 breast cancer, and have been through all treatment, operation, chemo Fec t,and radiotheropy, now I am taking Anastrozole ,all going well except my hair is taking forever to grow back,it's been 12 months since I finished chemo, and my hair is still very fine on crown, has anyone else had this problem? Thanks in advance Mrs Hope.

  • I had exactly the same , I’m 17 months post chemo, FEC-T, taking Letrozole and have not a lot of hair at all, especially on top. My Oncologist said she would refer me to a dermatologist but that was in October last year and although I’ve  made a several calls to her and my breast care nurse I’m still waiting for an appointment. I’ve now resorted to wearing a wig. Not ideal. I keep reminding myself I’m still here but the lack of hair is a constant reminder of what has gone on. Had an appointment with my surgeon and bc nurse on Friday there and yet again they have said they will refer me, so fingers crossed for this time.
Don’t mean to sound ungrateful and I know this is the least of anyone’s problems who is going through this.

  • Hope you get on OK,yes in all we should be so grateful we are all OK I know, my doctor says it should eventually all be OK,but at the end of the day our hair is our pride and joy,and we have been through so much....you are on a different hormone tablet to me so maybe they are all the same, today I Have looked on Internet and it says after 12 months of taking  hormone tablet side effects like hair thinning will get better so fingers crossed for us. I Have also been recommended by a close friend  that had been through this to try the Plantur 39,hair cair range, shampoo and conditioner and hair tonic,so trying this at the moment, thanks for your feedback.
