Hi all, I had a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy last Friday and have been worried about the soreness under my arm, it wasn’t too bad to start with, the wound seems a bit swollen today and yesterday was weeping a little, so have been trying to contact the breast care nurse, The phone just rang yesterday, this morning engaged constantly and now when it eventually rings no one answers. I have also developed weird spidery looking vein thing under my breast which wasn’t there yesterday, fades a bit when I press it but doesn’t completely go away.
Was just looking for some advice really as starting to freak out.
Thanks all
Diane xx
I don't know, but what about phoning the Beast Surgeon's Secretary ? Trip to A & E ? I'm afraid the same thing happened when I was unwell after surgery. My husband kept phoning up and no response or they kept missing each other's calls. Do sympathise with you. Have you tried NHS 111 service or on line NHS ? You might need antibiotics.
Agree with Venicelagoon - try someone else if you're not getting through to BCN. GP might help too.
Thanks for the advice did eventually get in contact with the BCN she was unconcerned, I was concerned so got in contact with GP who said it sounded like an infection and gave me antibiotics.
Thanks for replying, I got in contact with GP and got antibiotics.
That's pretty bad. I'm not a Nurse but it sounded to me like you needed antibiotics ! Bit like when I kept fainting, which is not something I normally do, because I had a small bleed. BCN just thought everything was OK and then denied (in front of another Consultant) ever having taken the drains out. Said she was off that day.
Thankfully the wound under my arm looks a bit better now and the spidery rash under my breast has faded a bit, it looked really weird this morning.
Hopefully it will be completely gone by tomorrow and the healing can continue x
