Letrozole by Manx Healthcare

Hi

I really could do with some help!

Picked up my first prescription of Letrozole at hospital pharmacy and it’s Manx healthcare box. From info I’ve been reading it seems Manx is not a “brand” of Letrozole, Manx is a company which packages Letrozole pills. The pills are round and yellow with an imprint of letter ‘H’ on one side and number ‘5’ on the other side. I can find no info online to say who is the maker of these pills so don’t know if I could be taking Accord, Sandoz, Actavis, Cipla, or Teva brands.

I have read posts of women having to insist on their usual brand of Letrozole from pharmacies after finding differences in side effects between brands, cases of women having to take whatever brand the pharmacy has in stock at the time. I really want to avoid this scenario and the reason why I need to find out which brand is in the Manx packaging.

  • Hi Eline welcome to the forum and you are experiencing that which many of us have experienced so whilst I will maybe be the first to answer your  post I feel that others will be along in droves to offer up some words of wisdom. 

    I had a look for  Manx Healthcare and  came across this post in the Macmillan archive from 5 years ago and I have included the link to this to explain what Manx Healthcare does.

    In respect of the same brand you are correct in that lots of us have had this issue and different  brands suit different folks better than some so it can be  a bit of trial and error to get the right brand for you  and it is as you say often what brand the chemist gets sent/delivered.  xx

    Granny59, thanks for your reply. I’ve just noticed that there is a banner in the forum called “Oestrogen Reducing-Medications” so I’ll also post my question in there too.

    Case solved!

    I emailed Manx Healthcare who responded quickly to say that the letrozole in Manx packaging is their own brand and they hold the licence PL14251/0083.
