I have today had a CT scan which was really wierd those of you who have had it will know what I'm talking about! My question is this, how long after having this scan will you wait before receiving results is it days, a week? 2 weeks? My consultant I have just heard if off on bloomin annual leave next week huh! So I am really gonna be a mess if I have to wait a few weeks, any ideas anyone? X

  • Hi Debimay….I had CT scan and was told it could be 2week wait, turned out it was just over a week ( results were thankfully all clear )…….but anything over a day is just what you need when anxiety levels are already sky high!!….hope it is sooner rather than later for you…...sending good wishes xx

  • Not knowing when you're going to get your CT results must be a nightmare. I was given my oncologist appointment, which would give me the results, at the same time they told me I needed a CT scan. The CT scan was a week later and oncologist a week after CT. I always knew when I was getting the results though - and that was really hard waiting.

Sorry you've not been given any timescales, I would phone the BCN to find out as waiting for those results is tough.

    Well hello beatthebreast

Firstly I'm very new to this what is BCN? I managed to get hold of someone at the hospital and explained my nerves could not hold out for weeks and I was told (They were lovely to be honest) that no decision could be made off the back of the CT scan until my dexta or dexa scan for my bones has been done so that should be next week then all people involved will get together and discuss best plans for me, then they will let me know. But the waiting is unbearable I want to ask if the CT scan shows it has spread what are the plans then? Oh I don't know I think we are all the same we are all going through it! Going up the mountain for a walk now to blow the cobwebs away, take care x

    Hiya misspolly

Don't suppose you would know what the percentage rate of these tests being clear are or where I could find out? Curious to know how many people have things show up on a CT scan, is it alot or very few any idea? X

  • Really wouldn’t have a clue, don’t know how you’d find out ( wouldn’t advise google, prob plant more negatives in your mind )…..I also had bone scan before CT….so, in total it was 2weeks wait, which I thought I’d never survive cos mind went into total overdrive!…( .BCN is breast cancer nurse)

Lovely thought going up mountain to blow away cobwebs……enjoy xx

  • I don’t know and sorry to say, didn’t want to know when I was in the same position! I had to wait two weeks for my CT and Bone scan results, which came back all clear. I worried myself to the point I didn’t sleep, lost a lot of weight and felt dreadful - none of which were ideal for preparing me for chemo and it didn’t change anything.

Going for a walk up a mountain sounds like exactly the right thing to do. Enjoy being outside, the sounds, the way your body moves and how good it makes you feel. File the other stuff away ready to be dealt with when you need to.

It’s very easy to tell someone else not to worry and please don’t think I’m playing down what torture it can be. Try to fill your time with the stuff you love doing and absolutely anything that might provide a distraction.

Sending a big virtual hug and best wishes for your results and treatment xx
