Hi everyone,

I finally start my 20 sessions of radiotherapy on Thursday. Feeling positive about it at the moment but just not sure what to expect and how it’s going to affect me.

Hope everyone is doing well on their different treatments.

  • Hi,

I start mine on Monday actually broke down and cried at Covid test last Thursday because of feeling nervous. The radiographers  went through it all and put my mind at rest. All of us have been throuHearth so much and he reminded me of that and how difficult it had been for all us having treatment throughout the pandemic. Mine is 5 days and each treatment will last 25 seconds. Wishing you the very bHeartst for your radiotherapy XLisa HeartCherry blossom

    HI and

Radiotherapy, for me, was no problem at all.  Fortunately, my skin didn't burn easily when I was younger so I assume that's why my skin wasn't a problem.

Keep up with the creams/lotions you have been advised about, to keep your boob skin well moisturised

I had lumpectomy and bought a couple Crop Tops which were great.  Years ago I had lumpectomy and wore normal bra whick was comfortably but I did get a bit sore under the affected boob.  I got none of that this year (finished radiotherapy 24 May 2021) which I put down to wearing Crop Tops

cI found the staff in Radiotherapy to be so kind, helpful, compassionate, lovely etc etc etc, especially the lads (I'm 70 yrs old)  I found them really 'tuned in' to how you are feeling and very sensitive to any concerns you  have.  I can't speak highly enough of them, to be honest.

Yes, it's an anxious time, waiting to start radiotherapy but the time will fly by and, before you know it, you'll  be saying 'bye and thanks' to them but they're still there for you if you need advice

    - you've answered a question I put in another post this evening LOL  Slight smile

All the best wishes to you both during your treatment
