Hello this is my first post..had my first operation 6 weeks ago went in for surgical biopsy but they ended up removing  the lump which I was glad about results came back showing cancer cells...4 days ago I had a quadrantectomy on top outer quarter of right breast & lymph node removal..I have to wait for lymph node results...how long does it take to recover from this operation? I was brave and looked at my boob when surgeon changed dressings day after...I wasn't going to incase it upset me but decided it was better than cancer being in there..I must say under my arm is so sore I am trying to exercises & get arm moving but oh my days it's so tight..and exercises knock me sick I know it's early days ...it's such a scary journey

Hi Kesten01 welcome to the forum and so very sorry that you have not had  a response as yet. You are absolutely right in that it is a scarey journey but it is important that you know that you are not alone on this journey not when you are here in this forum.

I hadn't heard of the Quadrantectomy and had to look it up to inform myself. I can imagine that having had that type of surgery then it will be sore as part of the muscles have been affected and will be tight as they heal but it is vital that you continue with these exercises as then you will get the full range of movement back. I also imagine  it will take longer to recover from as well but everyday is a  bonus and everyday it will feel better and less tight so keep going with those exercises and wishing you a speedy recovery .xxx
