Just wondered if anyone had been on H&P or just H, then had surgery, and then started H again after surgery for the year ?

what was the time frame it stopped for while the surgery took place ?

thank you x

  • Hi

I started my Herceptin injections in Feb 2020 and had lumpectomy and reconstruction surgery in the June.  In my case, I delayed my Herceptin by four days as it was due on my surgery day, then carried on 3-weekly as normal.  This was on advice from my surgeon and oncologist.  It may be different in your particular case so best to ask your team what they’re going to do.

Wishing you all the best with your treatment.

  • Hi

I started Herceptin in February 2020 following Chemo for 1 small ER+ and 2 Her2+ Tumours. I had it at 3 weekly intervals for 9 months.  I think I should also have been having letrozole but this was forgotten. I had regular blood and echo cardio tests during this time but basically, it was an easy time for me. My blood pressure was higher than normal and embarrassingly in this covid time, I had a runny nose and cough with high blood pressure but really no difficult side effects. I was able to exercise, eat well and I even lost weight. I was due a mastectomy and reduction on the other side in March 2020  but this was cancelled because of covid.  I eventually had a double mastectomy and a sentinel lymph nodes biopsy in July 2020. One post-operative day of feeling poorly but was discharged after 2 feeling fine. I did not have any drains, my surgeon didn't think they would be needed and they weren't. The HER+ tumours were found to have resolved. The ER+ was just 10mm and my surgeon was pretty confident the cancer had not spread.  One of my Herceptin injections was delayed for surgery, due to dates clashing but it wasn't a problem.

My only beef with my whole treatment is the anti-oestrogen drugs letrozole and exemestane - hateful side effects.

    Good Luck x
