I'm on treatment 4 of 6 and have lost all my hair. Just wondering how long after treatment it starts to grow. And how long you wore wig or scarf after treatment. Just thinking ahead for return to work not sure if I'd feel comfortable wearing scarf as in public eye but wig might be uncomfortable all day

  • I had 3 cycles of EC during which I lost all my hair.  Chemo was then switched to Docetaxel for another 3 cycles.  During Docetaxel it did start to grow back, but very soft and fuzzy, definitely nothing like normal hair.  I'm now three weeks after my last chemo and I can see a dark shadow on my scalp in places where hair growth is happening and there is lots of peachy fuzz.  I expect over the next three weeks it really will start growing.

I wear a headscarf in public places most of the time.  No wig as I overheat with a hat so a wig I think would be hotter.

Hopefully someone a bit further along will be able to say what to expect.

  • Hi NlJW. I've been wearing a wig when out and about for the last couple of months. I've got 2 chemo cycles to go. I had hair down my back before chemo and despite  cold capping I lost it all. I wear a human hair wig and a wig cap underneath. The longest I've worn it is for about 8 hours but not everyday as I'm WFH at the mo. It really is worth investing in a decent wig from a wig company or store as opposed to the web if its something you will wear for a while but that's just my opinion. I wear beanies around the house (you can buy breathable) and a silk hat at night. Good luck xx

I finished chemo on the 19th February and I also lost all of my hair . I now have a full head of hair .

  • I wear a wig every day for work, for about 8-10 hours, and it's much more comfortable than I ever imagined and I love it

Thanks for all your input. We were to get married this July and have now moved to next July as I want to feel week enough to enjoy the day we have planned. Also want to have my own hair back too.
