Hello, my treatment plan seems to have completely changed and I'm compiling a list of questions to ask when I attend an oncology appointment in a few weeks time but just wondered if anyone has had hormone therapy and chemo at the same time? My tumour is oestrogen receptive and the initial plan was lumpectomy, radiotherapy & hormone therapy. I've now been told that around 5% of the tumour was not removed, plus cancer has been found in a lymph node, but 6 months of chemo is needed before further surgery can take place. There was no mention of the hormone therapy though so just wondering if it is possible for this to be given at the same time as chemo? Thanks xx
Hi LalaLou welcome to the forum and sorry to hear how difficult things have been for you. The chemo will be being given to shrink the tumour that is left and to kill off any cells in the Lymph nodes and then surgery to follow. he Hormone Therapy will be given in tablet form and sometimes they do start it before surgery or sometimes after surgery. The oncologist will discuss this with you when they see you.
Im not sure about them both being given together but Im sure one of the lovely folks on here will know a bit more about this.
