Breast lump swelling after core biopsy

Hi,

I had 6 core biopsies from my breast lump two weeks ago.

My breast is still pretty green from the bruising which arose a couple of days after the biopsies.

It hasn't been painful at all, but I've had a pretty nasty infection after surgery on my cervix for cervical cancer so that could easily have hidden any breast pain.

This lump was first found by my GP in Oct and I couldn't feel it. Then on the 25th April I felt it after doing a breast check and was gobsmacked that it had grown so big and horrified at myself for being so caught up in my cervical issues I hadn't done a breast check for months.

My concern is that now when I look at my breast I can see the lump. I couldn't two or four weeks ago.

Could this still be the swelling two weeks later or is the lump just growing and growing?

What were your post biopsy experiences?

Thank you.

Hi Lavenderlilac welcome to the forum and sorry to hear about whats happening for you right now.

6 core biopsies- ouch! no wonder you had bruising have you had the results back yet or not? I can imagine that when you become aware of something or it is pointed out to you you become more conscious of this or more aware of this which could be why you are now seeing the lump. Dont be too hard on yourself about focusing on the  Cervical Cancer it sounds like you have had a whole load of challenging events going on and we can only deal with one bit at a time.

I can imagine that having had 6 biopsies that poor breast of yours will have suffered some swelling and I do think this is what you could be seeing but hopefully those results will be in soon and you will then know for certain exactly what it is you are dealing with.

Please do keep in touch and let us know how you get on as we will be thinking of you.  xxxxxx

Thank you. I had my breast consultant appointment today and she said that after the biopsies it is expected to swell. She is leaving my case open for 6 weeks just incase the lump continues to grow but after that I will be discharged as I am pleased to say the cancer hasn't spread to my breasts! So relieved.

They have found that I have fibrocystic breasts and the particular lump of concern was Sclerosing adenosis. Which is highly unlikely to change to breast cancer and no abnormal or precancerous cell changes were found.

I am so relieved. And so very grateful for the breast cancer care pathway being so speedy. My cervix cancer first biopsy when cancer was found was back in January and I was only told in April and still don't know my treatment plan. So they are worlds apart.

    Thank you for your reply.
