Hi guys.
im 43 Just finished chemo and due to start radiotherapy. Last few days have been having hot flushes and horrible night sweats.  I think I might be starting menopause.   Can anyone help me with anything they used ane it eased symptoms.

Hi, there is a special magnet that you wear in your underwear which honestly works, it’s called LadyCare plus ( purple stone like)... Amazon and Boots sell it, it works for 80% of women to massively cut down/ stop the flushes and I found it a God send!

  • I am a similar age to you and had chemo then started zoladex implants as well, and am now on exemestane. So I have no oestrogen any more. The hot flushes and night sweats were intense during chemo, and definitely worse after each cycle. Apparently, menopause symptoms can be much more intense when you go into a sudden menopause. I'm glad to say that they have really calmed down now that I am 6 months in and they started to calm down after chemo but then I had the operation and the general anesthetic made them worse again. I finished radiotherapy over 2 weeks ago and feel they have got a bit worse with that too. So, I think events / toxins are always going to exacerbate them but there are definitely things to do to help.

I take sage tablets, which have helped calm the day flushes to almost nothing (I was getting hot flushes and night sweats about 3 times an hour 24/7 and they were intense). I also exercise and when I'm outside I don't get any. Exercise is a great mood booster too of course. I have a chillax pillow for night sweats and this really helps calm them down quicker. I am thinking of getting another so I can put it under my body too. You have to put it to the side of your bed again once your flush has calmed as it will warm up - it then has a chance to cool down before the next one hits! This has made a huge improvement to the night sweats and being able to get back to sleep afterwards.

Other things are dressing in layers, hand held fan, drinking iced drinks etc. When they were really intense, I got special menopause clothing that is supposed to wick away the heat. It is different from sports clothing. That actually helped at night, but only when things were really intense. I've gone back to wearing nothing again.

I am hoping mine will continue to fade away.

Interesting about the LadyCare that LitaBerry recommends. I looked at that at wasn't sure whether I wanted to wear underwear at night as I get on better with nothing on but I might look into this again now!
