Hi all, just wondering if anyone has any tips. I’ve just had my 2nd cycle of EC chemo, and using a cold cap. However, my hair started to fall out A LOT, about 2wks after the 1st treatment. I have long hair and after treatment this week it has completely matted together. Has anyone suffered with this and any suggestions on how to deal with it. I’m going to ‘tackle’ it today but so worried it’s all going to fall out :-( Thank you x
Hi Lisa. I’m also using the cold cap and also lost a LOT of hair after the second cycle of EC. Probably about half. Now over halfway through and approaching cycle 5, my head is still covered and I don’t have any bald patches but it is thin. If I go out and it’s cold, I need my woolly hat. If it’s hot, I need my baseball cap to protect my scalp.
I was recommended to get a silk pillowcase which is gentler on your hair (and skin) to stop you rubbing your head in your sleep, and a hairnet to avoid matting and that seems to be working. Not the most attractive look but hey… Plus the hairnet stops you getting hair all over your pillow. Also only comb my hair with a wide tooth comb.
just be gentle! Try and hold your hair while you brush or comb, without pulling on the roots - even though that’s easier said than done!
Wishing you all the best for the remainder of your treatment.
Nardine xx
