Hello everyone,

I'm Steph from the Community team, I hope you don't mind me posting here.

We've been asked to create a new thread for chemo discussions this April, as the existing threads were getting a little long.

  • If you're looking for earlier discussions, you can find them in the Feb/Mar thread here.

  • You can find the chemo aids shopping list thread, created by members of the Community here.

Please do let us know if you have any other threads you think would be useful to link here.

  • Hi Nuls

Great your 1st one is over and done you’ll be at the 5th one before you know it hope the SE will be kind to you. A pic line sounds like a good idea as my hand and arm are in some mess with the cannula they always have trouble finding a vein at least they get a chance to recover now.

    take care

  • Hi ruby

Good to hear you survived the 2 days now rest and take it easy do you have to do that every time? I love my electric blanket for the days when I’m achy I find it really helps. Hope the SE are not too bad.

    take care

  • hi fititrx

Sorry for your loss. What a shock you’ve had but glad your treatment went ahead and hopefully your bloods will  be better next time. Take care of yourself.

    Hi Anne,

Thankfully I only have to do the two days once. For the final two I can have it all locally in one day.

Fifitrix I’m so very sorry for your loss, what an awful time for you and your family and a worry on top of everything else you are going through. Sending hugs, please take good care.

I am so sorry to hear about your brother, it makes a hard time in your life so much harder to cope with.
I hope you can feel the love & support that everyone is sending you through this group xx

    Hi Fifitrix

i am so sorry to hear about your brother, what a shock and added stress and you are in my thoughts at this sad time.

I too haven’t been on for a while but do try and keep up with messages.  I had my 4th weekly PC on Friday and my Neutrophils in white blood count were down, I could still have Chemo but instead of the 3 injections, they gave me 5.  This happened once before and was just before my first weekly PC.  The extra 2 injections helped increase the Neutrophils and so I thought I would mention but not sure if the same for you - anything to help you.

     - good to hear the two days are done and the next treatments are for one day, hope SE’s are minimal and you get to enjoy this sunshine.

    - so happy for you Denise that you have had your last Chemo, again I hope your SE’s are minimal too, please keep us posted.

Any one else that I have missed (Lynne, Daisy, Nuls) - all take care too.

Thanks for advice regarding tattoos for Radiotherapy.

  • Hi All,

So sorry to hear about your brother . Sending virtual hugs.

I’ve not been on for a while as feeling exhausted after my 5th chemo. Still, injections are finished now so onwards and upwards.

Hope your SE aren’t too bad .

I did get the polybalm nail treatment. Hopefully it will help.

Good wishes (and luck) to everyone having, or who’s just had chemo.

    Hi Bluebell,

I hope you start to feel a little better soon and your exhaustion wears off. Steroids still keeping me ok for now, just waiting for SE’s to kick in. Tastebuds are going a bit! When did you start to feel it?

Beautifuk sunshine here today so hoping to get out  for a wee while at least.

Take care all and hope you’re able to rest and recover over the weekend.

    Ruby xx

  • Hi Ruby,

Hope your 2 day treatment wasn’t too gruelling.

Yes, the tiredness kicked in after the steroids wore off. As did the loss of taste, it’s coming back a bit now though.

The main SEs I’ve had are tiredness and diarrhoea (on about day 4 or 5). Have taken Imodium at the first sign this time so it’s, thankfully, not come to anything.

I am feeling better today and the sun is shining. Hope you’re managing to enjoy it.

    Bluebell xx

  • Hi Everyone, not posted for a while but been following all the chat and it has kept me going. Good to hear about the progress everyone is making. The best one is when some one says... Just had last chemo.... So looking forward to being about to do that but a way off yet. I've been having a bit of a ' mare'. Managed to pick up an infection and been in and out of A and E for a full week now. Readmitted for second time and they are going to keep me until they are sure all is well. I hope. It's so exhausting. Feel better for being here though. Onwards and upwards!
