Hello everyone,
I'm Steph from the Community team, I hope you don't mind me posting here.
We've been asked to create a new thread for chemo discussions this April, as the existing threads were getting a little long.
Please do let us know if you have any other threads you think would be useful to link here.
Hi Ruby,
Maybe working until the end of May will work out quite well for you. Seems like it would be good for you to keep helping your students until the end of term. Then you can have a good, well deserved, break.

Hi Dclem,
Oh, that sounds lovely. Not sure what they do at the local hospital where I go. I know they do therapies at the Medical centre but haven’t checked it out yet.
I had my tablet and headphones plus book and phone so kept myself occupied.
Crashed out after dinner. Up to the toilet a few times, nothing too loose!, but slept OK apart from that.
Hope you are feeling OK and SEs aren’t too bad.

It was only her 1st week back doing therapies due to Covid but it was so nice to feel pampered and have a chat. These ‘treats’ should be available to everyone during cancer treatment she said but have been stopped throughout pandemic. I’m sure most hospitals will gradually start them now things are easing.
Still feeling reasonably good this morning after a decent sleep, only up twice in the night...injections start tonight so things might change. Let’s hope for a good cycle!
A friend said her #5/6 were easier than the 1st change over to Docetaxel so who knowsday at a time...

I had an emergency filling done in my front tooth which got chipped by my dentist but was told anything more invasive at gum area would be done by dental hospital team for safety. Let us know how you get on plz.

While waiting for my husband to pick me up today from chemo session, a lady came out who had just had her last session, she proudly rang the bell while her friend took her picture ... it was lovely to be there and clap along with nursing staff who had helped her through this part of her journey, I felt a bit emotional ... but she’s got through it, like we all will ... maybe I’ll be ringing the bell at my last session in May ... knowing me I’d cry my eyes up ringing the bell xx
Out of darkness cometh light
Hi all,
Thanks for the tooth advice. I can get it sorted as long as there’s no gum work or cutting involved so I hope to get an emergency appointment tomorrow. Chemo team were really helpful, and I’m glad of the timing as I should be able to fix before round three on Thur.
Hope you all manage to have a good weekend.

Hi Bluebell,
Yes, the end of May firmly in sight. I change to the Docetaxel plus T and P at the end of the month all being well so I think the timing would be good.

Hope that all goes well and tooth gets fixed Ruby so chemo can go ahead as planned.
I’m a retired college lecturer and your dedication to your students is just lovely, I’m sure they really appreciate your support through a difficult year. Please make sure you look after yourself as well though and rest when you can.

Hi Ruby,
That’s great they’ll be able to fix your tooth, fingers crossed.
Hopefully things will go well with work too.
I’m OK so far. Just really tired.
