Herceptin and Perjeta side effects

Hi has anyone here had nausea and diarrohea as side effects of Herceptin and Perjeta? I've had these side effects all the way through treatment and although I've just had last treatment, am wondering will it take long for these to disappear? I'm looking to go back to work and trying to realistically plan when I might be feeling alot more healthy and 'normal'!

Thanks!

  • Hi

I don't have any experience with these drugs but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. This is probably because this is such an active group that a post can slip off the first page before someone with the experience you need has had chance to see it. Replying to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussions list.

While you're waiting for replies if you type 'herceptin' and 'perjeta' into the group search bar you can read previous posts from people who have had these drugs.

I can see that you also posted this question in the ask a nurse section of the online community and wondered if you'd seen the reply. If not clicking here will take you straight there.

    Wishing you all the best

Sorry to hear that you’re suffering this. I’ve not had nausea fortunately but have had a smaller appetite and diarrhoea too. Net result is that I’ve lost weight unintentionally even though I’m eating fairly similar amount to before cancer. I think diarrhoea is fairly consistent I’m hoping it will all settle down when my treatment stops soon, am wondering also how long it takes for this and other side effects to resolve!

  • Thanks for your reply. Yes I've also had weight loss due to reduced appetite- hoping we recover quickly at end of treatment.

    Hi

Yes I'm getting these. I started pertuzumab/trastuzumab in September so have until this September to look forward to! Appetite suppresses and diarrhoea hitting throughout.

It's hard to tell at the moment for me how much is still being affected by the docetaxyl, which did a right number on my digestive system, and how much is the pert/tras. But it comes in waves along with the treatments so it's definitely being "topped up" by this.

I hope your side effects ease soon - and that you get some positive answers here x

  • Hi thanks for your input- it feels as though you are having very similar experience on these drugs as myself. I also had Docetaxol and my digestive system took a battering straight away, so yes, agree some may be from that, but no let up since changing over to per/teas combo. Think it's going to take a while for the damage to be repaired!

Good luck on your journey Heart exclamation
