Good evening, I had a Becker tissue expander implant 10 years ago, after finding a lump a few months ago, my consultant said that it has leaked and will need to be replaced. He has given me no indication of time, but I said my case will go to the MDT next week. He did say they could be some complications as I have previously had a failed tram flap and radiotherapy. I am wondering how long the surgery will be and about the recovery period? He will also be doing a biopsy on the lump at the same time as the Surgery as he said it would be too risky to do a biopsy now as the lump is attached to the implant.
Hi there, I'm one of the champions in the group and whilst I can't personally answer your question, I wanted to acknowledge your post. I hope someone with the relevant experience will be along soon, but in case not, you can also call the lovely folks at the Macmillan helpline, on 0800 808 0000 daily from 8am to 8pm. Best wishes
Both the Macmillan helpline and Breast Cancer Now helpline are helpful. What dose your BCN nurse say.
All the best
I don’t have a BCN yet as I was told this during my first appointment last week, where I had a mammogram, ultrasound and met with the consultant in one appointment.
