Hey All
I finished chemo, and just been prescribed my first box of Tamoxifen to start in 4 weeks with my Radiotherapy. During my last call with my oncologist I was recommended to take vitamins, minerals & supplements. I am already taking a standard vitamin as agreed with oncology but now recommend evening primrose and glucosamine tablets.
Just wondering if there is anything else people found helpful towards side effects of the Tamoxifen and menopause symptoms?
Thanks xxx
Hi Kelstar9
Cpngrats getting through that chemo, another cancer achievement! I'm on letrozole rather than the big T but take glucosamine, as you've been advised and have some organic sage tincture for those hot flushes (not 100% convinced on effectiveness of latter).
I have to say though that I believe having a healthy, varied and balanced diet and exercising is far more effective than taking lots of supplements.
Good luck
Sam
Thanks for your reply! Yes it’s great to reach the end, especially as me & Paclitaxol were not friends, had some very bad reactions and twice we had to stop! (Managed about 60% of it)
Thanks for the advice about the organic sage, worth a try, and added to my list of things to try. Looking forward to getting back to normal with our lifestyle as normally we are pretty good, with some naughty days, but lockdown and treatment definitely created more naughty days!
Take care and Thanku xx
Hi Kelstar9
Congratulations on completing your chemo! Sorry to hear about your Paclitaxel issues but hope you have a side-effect free time on Tamoxifen. The only issue I have is I’ve noticed that it’s easier to put on weight so I’ve been having to watch what I eat and cut out all the lovely chocolates, biscuits, desserts, crisps etc. I was also prescribed Calcium and Vitamin D tablets to help with keeping bones healthy.
I’m having acupuncture for the neuropathy on my feet, but interestingly they also use it a lot to help with hot flushes so worth investigating if you have an issue.
Hope your radiotherapy goes smoothly - nearly there!

Yep Kelstar9,
Me and the the pac had to part company after one session so I'm with you on that one, luckily EC was very good to me so just had more of that and it did the trick.
I think pretty good with a smattering of naughtiness is what I generally aim for - being a saint is no fun at all. When this ice has bu55ared off (my bones couldn't stand me falling I suspect and don't want to risk it - I sound like I'm 90!) am back on the bike & running.

Morning
Thanks for the tip about weight gain! Just before I was diagnosed I lost over 2 stones, so I definitely don’t want to be putting that back on! If anything I wanted to get back out there and shift a little bit more! So I will definitely try to keep my naughty treats down!
Also thanks for the advise about calcium, vitamin D and looking into acupuncture. Definitely things to look at if needed! Fingers crossed I won’t, but worth keeping in mind.
I was very disappointed not to complete the pac, but I was told with my 4 lots of EC, and 60% of pac, I had what I needed and the tablets will be more benefit. So all worked out in the end. So now getting ready for my NHS suntan (radiotherapy) and obsessing over my tiny hairs sprouting from my eyebrows and eyelids! I never knew how exciting hair growth could be! Haha!
Thanku to you both for your advise ️
