Diagnosed with breast cancer and something has shown on my iung from CT Scan. Seeing oncologist tomorrow. I keep thinking the worst that he's going to tell me it has spread and can't be treated. The breast surgeon said I would have chemo  but the lung thing needs to be checked out.. I feel so helpless.

Anyone else had similar?  Grateful for thoughts

  • Hi SOK, really sorry to hear something has shown up on your lung.  Hopefully it's nothing but I'm sure you will worry till you get the results.

I read a post today by someone who seems to be sort of in the same boat as you so you might want to reach out and contact her.  I have always found it helpful chatting with people who are going through the same thing as me.

This should be the link https://community.macmillan.org.uk/cancer_types/chat-breast-cancer/f/new-here-say-hello/211046/surprise-i-m-back-again

Really hope you get good news when you get your results.

    Hi SOK,

I had similar but the other way round, diagnosed with lung cancer and through the PET Scan they found the breast cancer (also primary).  I had chemo and radiotherapy treatment for the lung which finished in Dec and will be having an op on the breast in a week and then immunotherapy for the lung 2 weeks after (if all goes well).  It is a worrying time and seems to be non-stop appointments, blood test etc etc but at least they are on top of it.  Fingers crossed that it is good news for you.

Thanks Karen for your post. I am having a petscan to see if there is any spread as what showed up on the CT was indeterminate. As you say they are on top of it so I remain hopeful. Good luck with your journey wishing you well xx

    Hi SOK,

I had something on my scan which turned out to be a ground glass nodule, they scanned it at regular intervals of 4 months, 8 months, 12 months and then it will finally be scanned for the last time 12 months after the last one, so 4 scans in total, to date it hasn't increased in size and they believe it to be benign due to it not changing.  Hope your scan proves nothing sinister.

Thank you that's good to hear . Trying to stay positive. Wishing you all the best.

  • I had a small blood vessel in my liver (very common) which showed up as something on Ct. They did an MRI and it was fine. I had swine flu 10 years ago and also have a very small nodule and some scarring on one lung from that,  but is been the same in pre breast cancer images so they weren't bothered. Good luck!
