Hi ya! I’m new to the group and want to see if anyone else has had problems with their wounds not healing? It’s been 2 months since my tumour was removed in my left breast. Unfortunately the t site has split and is open and very sore!! Any advice on how I can cope with this as it’s really getting me down. Thank you

  • Hi  and welcome to the forum. Sorry you find yourself here but it’s a great place for support and shared experiences. I had other issues with post op healing, mainly a rather huge haematoma which took a while to re absorb, but the wound itself healed ok. What have they said at the clinic? There is bound to be someone here who’s had something similar. I know I was glad in the end that I had a 10 week gap between op and rads as I felt I needed the healing time. Are you due to have radiotherapy?

You could also post this in the Ask a Nurse section. Hope someone pops on soon with some practical advice, and I hope the hospital and/ or your GP are being supportive. The whole cancer business is hard enough to cope with, without this added complication. Love and a big but very gentle virtual hug, HFxx

Hi Percy Pearce how are you today . I too have had problems with wound healing but keeping in touch with your breast nurse is most important as she can arrange for you to see surgeon ,assess for infection etc. I’m sure you know this. Keep sores covered in dry . I had to pad round the area to stop bra rubbing . Holding a cushion close over area sounds daft but comforting. Try and rest don’t do too much to allow healing. But id defnetly ask to see your nurse as the T is the problem and may need cleaned well and dressed . Hope you find solution x I’m 3 months down and still having other probs after surgery like infection, filling with fluid it’s an on going battle I guess.

Thank you so much for your reply! I have been going to the hospital every week sometimes twice a week for a wound check, they’ve tried lots of different techniques, pico machine for a week, honey, jelonet etc. I’m now just letting it dry out but obviously a little difficult with a teenage boy in the house,so can’t walk around with my boobs out. I’m back in on Friday to see if they think it’s any better. As soon as it heals I’m having radiotherapy, just feels like it’s never going to get better!! Hope you soon feel better xx
