The doctor said I was going to have 18 one hour sessions of chemo. Imagine my surprise to be told chemo starts tomorrow and will be 5 and a half hours. Has anyone else experienced this?
Hi Hepi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I was passing and noticed that you hadn't had any responses yet so I thought I'd give you the link to the breast cancer chemotherapy thread for January. If you post your question there as well, hopefully someone will be able to tell you if they've had this experience.
When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Which chemo are you getting Hepi sorry didn't see your post . The timings you give sounds similar timings to herceptin drug the reason the first one is longer is explanations from unit nurses and in case of reaction . Although you might have found that out by now .
when you nip back on here try the Jan chemo thread in the grey area at top of topic page . You might find others on the same chemo . Lots of chatty threads too
Hi Margaret
You are right - times take into account Herceptin, pre meds and cold cap. In fact it was all over by 3.30. Oh well one down 17 to go. And it would be nice of the BRI in Bristol to give me a schedule for the next 17. Oh well, that seems to be my approach at the moment. Thanks for getting back to me.
Yvonne
Glad your first one done Hepi I had EC x 6 three weekly then herceptin jabs x18 three weekly just finished after 17 month my story on profile just click on name to read if you want . No cold cap ..didn't want to hang around .
After chemo and just herceptin only in chemo unit maximum 20/30 mins jab only takes couple minutes but I would sit with little bottle of herceptin warming it up so it didn't hurt so much going in thigh .
