Hello, I'm new here and was diagnosed with IDC hers2 negative, er positive 15mm breast cancer on the 5rh of December.
Apart from an appointment to get my biopsy results and an information pack, not a lot has happened. I was told by the nurse I would be having a lumpectomy, sentinal node biopsy and radiation and hormone therapy.
I have an appointment at the breast clinic on the fifth of January. I am presuming this is to see the surgeon... the letter doesn't say anything. (apart from the three pages about covid).
I am 51, my sister died at 53 from secondaries with breast cancer and a school friend died last weekend, also from secondaries from breast cancer. The only two women I know who have had breast cancer in their early 50's have both died.
I have been quite optimistic until last weekend, now I am scared that this is all taking too long and nothing is happening and am terrified that it is spreading, even as I type. Every ache, pain, twinge is scaring me.....
Why is everything taking so long?
So, I eventually got to see the surgeon on the 4th of January and my surgery is booked in for the 26th. Today I received a copy letter that the surgeon sent to the GP stating that my 13mm grade 3 tumour is now 20mm. I knew it had flipping grown while they were waiting around!
Thank goodness it is coming out in a week and a bit......
That’s shocking! It’s so difficult isn’t it, because I’ve been warned they may need to cancel my surgery on Thursday due to COVID. I know it’s not their fault but that doesn’t help us. Hopefully your surgery will go ahead sam, as planned and you can start the journey to recovery x
I know, it's quite worrying really considereing its almost three weeks from seeing the surgeon to surgery, so it might have grown a little bit more and even branched out maybe? Today is 66days from being referred by the GP, so it's going to be operated on, on day 74. I've got my fingers and toes crossed for you for Thursday. You've had quite a wait too haven't you? I really hope everything goes off without a hitch on Thursday xxx
Hi Cyprusfav
My clinic appt was on 21.4 21 and I had 3 biopsies taken waited 3 weeks for results which showed dcis small area. Also on my clinic appt they noticed an area of concern and was booked for a vacuum biopsy on 18.5 21 4 weeks after clinic appt now have to wait 3 weeks for my results of that. Do you think I would of been seen sooner if deemed more urgent?? It does not look like I am going to be starting any treatment until beginning of July nearly 3 months after initial referral.
Best wishes
Sharon x
