Hi All
I was wondering if I could have some advice please. 2 weeks ago I found out I had breast cancer that has partially spread to my lymph nodes in my armpit. I went for a CT scan and a MRI and today I got a sudden phone call saying my consultant wants to talk to me via video call on Thursday I wasn't expecting this so now I'm worried that its a really bad sign and this will be even more bad news if not worse.
Have any of you had this as well and it was just precaution or good news?
My anxiety has gone through the roof and I need some support to get me through the next few days.
Thank you
Lisa
Hi Lisa,
whatever you say about breast cancer, when you get diagnosed it’s full of surprises. It’s great that the hospitals are using video calls now, at last; it’s been a long time coming! But treatment is a lot more tailored to the individual than it used to be.
Yes this wait is anxiety-generating, but it could well mean it’s a sort of short cut to agreeing a treatment plan with you. In the meantime, keeping busy helps, and if the worry keeps you awake at night then don’t forget that in the group there’s a thread for exactly that scenario, called ‘AWAKE....’ you can find it by clicking on the sub-heading called ‘restless?’ And it will take you (unfortunately as the thread is incredibly long and due to the site-work going on at present) to the start of the thread; scroll to the double arrow at the bottom of the page and it’ll take you to the latest posts! Just don’t Google! It’s full of scare stories and often out of date.....

Moomy is right x keep away from google. The waiting is crap because it gives you time to imagine loads of negative scenarios. I convinced myself there was cancer growing everwhere! Your consultant and nurse will explain everything to you as they must have your informed consent. Have a pad and pen ready to write things down, perhaps any questions you have. And have a partner or friend with you on the call as you will forget stuff. Box of tissues is handy too whatever the news xxxxx You got this!
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
