I felt it would be a good idea to have a thread for this which people can use to ask questions, especially about side effects.

  • I have had a mighty battle with pharmacy but doctor has agreed to prescribe Accord brand as I have fewer side effects. Find which brand suits you best and hopefully things will improve. Sleep better now but not brilliant. Some good days and some bad.

I have been on Letrozole for 3 years now but know there are other options. Tried Exemestane which was worse so just sticking to what I know now.

Stick with it as it's still early days and maybe try different options.

  • Bless you, thank you so much for your reply and handy tips.  had not realised the brands change, taught me a valuable lesson to log them and ask for a specific brand. Think I may have a battle too, but how crazy is it?  The brand I have got my insomnia with is Tillomed Lab, never want it ever again…..

I am in full time work and with my little sleep, my work is shoddy as concentrating, thinking, remembering, I am in a hazy bubble…I don’t feel me at all…...

Waiting for the doc to call me back…

I actually started off on Letrozole with Sun Pharmaceuticals, apart from tiredness that was it.  Ooh do you mind me asking your brand?

Sending big hugs as this is a journey that no one wants to take but we have little choice…..

  • Hi

    1. I am on sun pharma have it stated on my prescription but still a fight at times to get it. I have been taking this for nearly a year apart from joint pain which has eased I find this brand ok. I am on it for 10 years just don't need the fight to get it for the next 9 years. Good luck xx
  • I have sent several brands back to pharmacy but am much happier on Accord brand. Still some problems but nothing like the Sunpharma and Cipla. Brain fog is always an issue as these pills deplete your oestrogen and cause menopause-like symptoms but taking these pills for me is always better than what could happen without them.

I am a positive person who looks on the bright side of everything and am just glad that I was lucky to have found it early. As you say little choice but to keep going on the journey.

    Take care, hugs .

  • Hello Jane, wow it’s been a while and hope all is well.  I am actually shocked that the brand can change so easily and yet no consideration for the patient ie us…..Gosh bless ya, hope you win every time.

  • Am so pleased you have found a brand that works best for you and long may it continue.

The only symptom I have always had is fatigue - but on those Tillomed ones, it’s knocked me for six tbh. I hadn’t realised the brand changes and think I will be visiting my Pharmacy to see if we can ensure I never get them again.

Ooh we are quite alike as am very positive (except when I have only had in total 4 hours sleep so far this week, prior week was 14 hours …). Mine was caught earlyish too.Just think there is a happy medium, as we have been through enough and should work not change our brands…..

  • I’ve just been prescribed yEXEMESTANO here in Spain? What side effects did you have?

  • Diarrhoea, extremely bad plus usual joint pain and fatigue. Stuck it out for a week and went back to Letrozole but not everyone is the same, perhaps you will be alright. Give it a chance and good luck with your journey.

  • I am retired, aged 75 so the sleep is not such a major issue. I do not sleep during the day as this only makes night times worse. If you are working this must be a problem. I tried Nytol and other things but they just don't work. Doctor agreed Accord brand but pharmacy say that NHS don't accept this. Why not! May try another pharmacy but it is further away.

  • Thank you!  Oncologist said to give it a try for 4-6 weeks and see how well tolerated.  I’m 64 and already a bit stiff, arthritis in knees and hip so I’m not sure for me.
