I felt it would be a good idea to have a thread for this which people can use to ask questions, especially about side effects.

  • Hi. I've been on Accord for just 12 months and the side effects have luckily been minimal. I had a bit of a battle with my gp practice as they said their system didn't allow them to state a brand and it didn't make a difference anyway.

I said ,fine so I'll just keep bringing any other brands back and you will be responsible for breaks in my treatment.

Amazingly they discovered a notes field where information regarding medication can be added.

This now goes to the pharmacist whoi is a star. She now knows I need Accord and I have no problems.

The drugs cost pennies and i honestly believe different brands have different fillers and different side effects for individuals.

So stick to your guns and if necessary kick up a fuss.

    Sending hugs xx

  • Thanks for that. I will tell the practice pharmacist on Tuesday and hopefully that will be the end of the problem.

I have written down your info. and I'm certain the brand makes a difference. The pharmacist is generally amenable to suggestions and has already switched some of my prescriptions. x

  • 5 days into tamoxifen and I woke up with blurry vision, anyone else experienced this?  Wondering if this is temporary and will change or is a sign of things to come.

  • Tamoxifen can effect your eyesight so I'd suggest phoning optician tomorrow. It give me catatacts. I only get blurry vision when fatigue is particularly bad. Hopefully that's what causing yours.

  • Oh no!  What a nightmare with these tablets. Take care. Xx

  • Yesterday I had blurry vision for a few hours and thankfully that cleared, but fatigue hit me really badly.  Similar to the radiotherapy fatigue I had, but much worse and lasted most of the day.  I can still feel it today but not as bad.  I felt incapacitated by it.  I stopped tamoxifen and reverted to Letrozole again, mailed the oncologist via secretary for advice but not heard anything yet.  I wish I would have asked about this scenario.  Not started the alendronic acid yet, didn't want to confuse the side effects.

  • I phoned my consultant's secretary yesterday and she promised to send me the Dexa scan results and a copy of the letter to the GP.

  • So sorry you are going through this. Wise to delay starting alendronic acid until you get this sorted. Fingers crossed this can be sorted.

  • Since taking exemestane eye sight has deteriorated. Long distance is variably blurry. I now need glasses when walking and even with them cannot always read subtitles on the TV. I have cataracts forming but not yet at stage they can be treated. When having my eyes tested at opticians there was a pause in my testing for about 20 minutes. First test I could barely get past the first 2-3 lines on second test I was going much further down. The option thought I had memorised the letters and changed them . He couldn't understand the marked variability. Anyone else had similar?

  • Hi the same thing happened to me after starting on tamoxifen. The optician put it down  to my eyes self adjusting. I'm not sure how that happens! My cataracts are also not yet at the stage for surgery. I.I'm grateful to be a year cancer free but life is very different with all the side effects.
