I felt it would be a good idea to have a thread for this which people can use to ask questions, especially about side effects.

I rang my gp yesterday and requested to keep the brand I have started on so I can monitor   I have to say it was a battle but I got there in the end x

  • Hey i was advised to go on Letrozole Accord, glad i did now... Ive only been on them a week, but when i was on Anastrozole a week i was getting very aching bones. So far not had anything like that with Letrozole, only hot sweats on a night.. Fingers crossed this is all i get.. :)

  • Hi Irishgirl. I was fine until about 5 months then gradually side effects of joint muscle and bone pain built up and by 8 months they were unbearable. Just about to start Anastrazole instead now. Fingers crossed.

  • Hi Irishgirl

My joint pain started about 3 months in but I've found it bearable and I tend to walk through it with gritted teeth , and lots of determination. Blood pressure issues are being taken care of by my gp. I haven't noticed any hair problems except it's slow growing back. So far, fingers crossed, that's all I have , so slightly stiff joints, BP issues- and nothing else so far. My oncologist wants me to change to exmestane,  because of the stiff joints. But I'm resisting as I've taken letrozole for almost 6 months and he can't guarantee the exmestane won't also cause stiff joints. Good luck and remember,, you may not get any of this.

  • Forgot to say the Crescent brand was worse for me, couldn't even walk. I take Sun Pharma and they work well for me. It can be the brand sometimes, that makes things worse.

  • It’s been six weeks since I began letrozole. Now have joint pains in hands/wrists and hot flushes, these I can deal with for the moment however the insomnia is really upsetting. I’m only managing two hours of sleep, going to bed later makes no difference and at times I’m so tired but even a nap during the day to alleviate the fatigue doesn’t happen. I’m at the end of my tether already. Next oncology appointment is in three weeks.

Thanks for this info. I'm definitely gonna give antihistamine a go, but worried that it's tiredness inducing properties might affect me. Did this affect you at all?

  • I find the insomnia particularity bad and at first really had issues. I now sleep in a different room from my partner, since I became more worried about him then me. I keep a radio by my bed and once I know I am not going to sleep anytime soon turn it onto LBC. The things they talk about at 2,3 and 4 o'clock in the morning are amazing. I find I drift off to sleep with it still on and wake up hours later. It seems to take my mind off of worrying and  stressing out. I will also keep meditation podcasts easily to hand which help me calm down and go back to sleep. Good Luck - this too will pass in time.

  • ITCHING

Sorry I could not find how to make a new post either. My query relates to feminine itching. This sounds minor but in my case it is terrible and always at bedtime. It was worse in the hot weather when it woke me up at night. I also get itching between my breasts too - a tattoo site and under both arms.

anyone else had this and what did you do about it?
