I felt it would be a good idea to have a thread for this which people can use to ask questions, especially about side effects.
I take mine in the morning - keep a list of when I take it - I'm paranoid I will forget. Mine is orange yellow in colour. It says on the outside of the box and on the paperwork inside.
Crescent - It was changed by my chemist - used to be CIPLA. I am so much happier/more comfortable on Crescent.
I take mine with breakfast so I don't forgot it. I am currently on Crescent brand which is not good. Pharmacy is going to get Accord if they can for next time. Name of the brand will be printed on the box.
My first box is Manx, prescription was issued by hospital. I asked my pharmacy two weeks ago which brand they had in stock and it was Crescent, however they have now delivered Accord to me after the GP surgery sent my prescription over to the pharmacy (pharmacy is attached to surgery). The GP didn’t specify a named brand on my prescription despite me telling him I was on Manx. Already having hot flushes day/night and awful sleep. Will see how I get on with the Accord, fingers crossed I don’t have to keep changing brands
I am into my 4th week of taking Letrozole. I don’t remember the brand of the box I was given initially from the hospital but my regular pharmacy have now given me Accord.
The first couple of weeks on Letrozole I experienced joint pain, insomnia, hot flushes and fatigue. The joint pain was primarily in one hand and both legs. I still have the same side effects but they have definitely reduced considerably.
My prescription doesn’t specify a brand so I will receive whatever the pharmacy stock. Thanks to this forum I will now take notice when I get my repeat prescriptions as to the brand I receive and if the brand changes, monitor any side effect changes.
Best wishes to everyone wherever you are on your journey.
I have just given myself a 3 day break from Crescent brand as pains got horrendous. Managed to get pharmacy to put Accord on my record and will start them tomorrow. Side effects are much less severe with Accord for me but perhaps not everyone. I have used Accord for almost 18 months and initially it was not good but tolerable now.
I took Exemestane for about 3 weeks but had such bad diarrhoea which was blamed on my diet! Went on low residue diet and no difference. Eventually they decided it was the pills and changed to Letrozole which was much better- no more diarrhoea!
All pills have side effects and you need to try and get one with the least problems for you. Even different brands cause different side effects.Keep trying as you will probably find one to suit you better.
Mine all dealt with by breast care centre and not GP.
