First time posting

Wondering  if anyone can help me or let me know if they have been through the same as myself.

Here goes my story. Roughly 4 months ago my little boy dug his elbow into my breast by accident. Didnt think anything of it until a few days later  i found a small lump on my breast and started to get sore. It was very tender for about  1 month. I started to think it was getting better as bo pain however lump was still there. 2 months after injury i was wearing a new tight bra and noticed the lump almost doubled in size and pain had came back. Seen gp who said it was an infection and was given course of antibiotics. A few into taking antibiotics bruising appeared ao i thought it was getting better howvever after course of antibiotics lump was still there but had calmed down. Seen gp again who said it was an abcess nothing to worry bout but will need to go to hospital to get it removed. Went to breast clinicwas given a mammogram and ultrasound. Ultrasound showed slight inflammation in lymph nodes at armpit and also took a biopsy. Spoke to consultant who said results  will take a week however based on mammogram likelihood is its breast cancer but small chance its non cancerous. Just cant get my head round this as the lymp is solid and its at the front part of my breast near rib cage. Feeling anxious and worried. Has anyone else had injury like this and and came back all clear

  • The injury may have just brought to light the lump which was growing unnoticed.  As it is just a small lump, even if it is cancer,  it will be very easy to deal with.  Hopefully it turns out to be a cyst or abcess. I know its no good telling you not to worry because you will.  Just try not to think about it too much..  Sending comforting hugs.

    Hi

I too presented at the GP with a nasty infection and given antibiotics. He sent me to brest clinic and ended up with biopsy being taken. Surgery followed to remove what they thought was a papilloma but turned out to be DCIS. Now awaiting results of MRI before planning treatment.

My lump that was removed was only 2.5mm and was completely unconnected to the original infection. I wouldn't have presented to my GP if it hadn't have been for that and my cancer would not have been diagnosed in such a timely manner.

I know its horrible and stressful waiting but as everyone will tell you its the hardest part. Once you know either way its easier to focus on what can be done.

    1. There is lots of support on here if and when you need it. Take care Slight smile Debs
  • Thanks for the reply. Hardly slept last night worrying about it. Going to be a long week before get biopsy results

  • Thank you so much for reply. Just worried sick and i have 2 young boys that need their mummy. My lump can be seen as it sticks out ,rock hars vut the outer part os soft and tender i would roughly say its 6 inch which makes me think it cant be cancer and the lump size goes up and down and gets irritated if wear tight bra. Dunno if lumps can grow that fast and i would say its doubled in size in past 6 weeks. So stopped wearing them and just  wear a wee camisole top. I hope your keeping better. Did ur infection have hard lump? Did that show up on your mammogram or ultrasound?

  • Hi

my story is on my profile just click on my name if you want to read .

I just wanted to say welcome to the site ,I know you don't want to be here but it really us the best place to be . For support and a place to rant and rave . Have a chat or even laugh

I'm sorry you're playing the waiting game but it is the worst time waiting for results . Head all over the place and feel like on a rollercoaster and can't get off .

You will feel better once you find out the results ..whatever they say . You will then have something to focus on .....whatever it is .

Please stay away from google it's usually out of date . Hard to do but distraction is the only way to fill in the waiting time

I had the cleanest kitchen cupboards I'd ever had .

keep posting if you can't sleep there is a "Awake "thread usually someone on there thru the night if not plenty of posts to read

  • Thank you so much for sending me a message. One minute i think i will get all clear and next i think its bad news. I must admit i have been reading Google even though been told not to. I feel i have a lot of questions that  didn't  get  a chance to ask because  i thought i was just  going in to get an abcess removed so i was in shock when i got told possibility of cancer which i feel they shouldn't say until have all facts and results back. Hope you are keeping well ans let me know how you are getting on x

  • Hi. Although my consultant didn't say it was cancer at my first appointment, I could tell by his tone of voice and the look on his face that he thought it was.  They see lots of women and can probably tell in most cases. Your doctor probably just wanted to prepare you for the worst.  If it shows up as benign you will have a really pleasant surprise.  I actually found out that it was cancer when I received an appointment letter to see an oncologist which arrived before my results appointment so was on my own when I found out for certain.  I am fortunate that I will not be having chemo so am now just waiting for my operation date.

  • Aww thats a shame i have heard a few people have been sent out a letter before their diagnosis. To be honest  i would rather they tell me over the phone as i cant bare to look at their face when and if its bad news but i know that they have  to tell you in person. Fingers crossed you get  your operation soon. Have you found covid is delating any of your treatment etc? X

  • Thanks. Yeah i spoke to a nurse on chat a few hours ago. As you know they cant say yes or no you have cancer. Its just the not knowing and waiting a week is long time to wait when results can be life changing. My boys are aged 10 and 3  so they have no clue whats going on. Only my husband knows but he works away and dont want to bother family or friends until i know whats going on. Yeah definitely great having this support from people you dont know but can relate to what your going through its so strange. I am glad your getting there, didn't realise the amount of meds some people have to take and on going treatment etc. Thanks again  for listening x
