Hi I am new to the site and was wondering if anyone could help,After suffering with pain in both breasts I found a lump in my left and was diagnosed with stage 3 invasive ducal breast cancer, Since then I have had a left mastectomy and node clearance, Also had a ct scan and was told there was nothing to be concerned about , I have now started chemotherapy (6 rounds of fec-t ) 3 rounds of t left to do then start radiotherapy ,But am still suffering with pain in my right breast and armpit and worried something has been missed, My breast care nurse says there’s nothing to worry about but the pain is still there, should I be concerned that my care team have only concentrated on my left breast and not the right ,
Hi Reberto
I am sure they know what they are doing and have done the ct scan so try and be reassured. They will be checking both breasts when they diagnose cancer. Your breast care nurse has told you there's nothing to worry about, but it's clearly really worrying you. Have you got an appointment with your oncologist soon? If so, you could raise it again. I am sure it is fine, but you need that reassurance don't you? especially as it's still hurting and that the pain is what led to the diagnosis of your left breast.
If you don't have an appointment, I am sure there is no harm in getting in touch with your oncologist and explaining just how worried you are and they might show you scans of each breast to help you accept what they are saying - they'd have to be pretty uncaring not to understand how worried you are and help put your mind at rest.
Kindest wishes,
Lesley x
hi Reberto and welcome to the forum. I agree with lesleyhelen that as you have had a clear CT scan this is likely nothing to worry about but I would recommend bringing it to the attention of your oncologist if your breast care nurse is not keen to investigate further. This should hopefully reassure you. I also had pain prior to diagnosis, just like you, so if I get any pain now then I don't hesitate in flagging it up. Try not to worry too much though because your team will know what they are doing and you have enough to cope with going through the chemo. Best of luck with everything. x
