Hello lovelies,

I had a lumpectomy on Monday, all went well. Had the sore throat from the airway tube afterwards but that’s now subsided. Felt great Tuesday, was pleasantly surprised, yesterday was very sleepy and felt sick, today feel sleepy, breathless, and light headed - should I be concerned or is this all normal? I’m tempted to phone the unit but don’t want to come across as paranoid! The surgery site is a little sore but nothing more than I’d expect so I don’t think I’ve an infection or anything

Thanks xx

    Hi

I had my lumpectomy last Monday, and like you felt great the following day (and week of). The symptoms could be the General / morphine wearing off; it could be dehydration; or something else, but if you are still feeling that way please do call the unit - they are there to help and it's not paranoid to call.

    All the best to you!

  • Hi, a general anaesthetic (whatever mix of drugs they use) can take three weeks to completely leave your system, so take it easy and don’t expect miracles! If they used any steroid in the mix (quite possible) then the ‘drop’ in your energy levels is totally normal.

however do the exercises religiously as instructed! And if you’re at all concerned then phone your BCN/unit, they’d MUCH rather be bothered than have you being ill.

    hugs xxx
