I had a mastectomy in january 2017, i am on letrezole till 7th March 2022 and risedronate. Not once have i been called to hospital from any breast care worker or any oncologist, this is in 3 years is this right no contact at all. Is this normal practice
No! Do you not at least see someone after you have yearly mammograms. I saw my surgeon after my 1st one (delayed a few months by covid) and he did e you next May. I saw my oncologist 3 months after starting letrozole, and then after 5 months. I'm speaking to her at the end of September so see how the change to exemestane is going.
How are you coping?
I had a mastectomy in March 2017 and required no further treatment but Letrozole for 10 years.I saw the breast nurse after6 months and was discharged to GP care and mammograms for 5 years. This was not a great comfort as my lobular cancer never showed on a mammogram.I have had a phone call after each mammogram from the surgery but no one has seen me in person.I was told to be vigilant , after all l found the problem last time. This seems to be standard practice for my hospital and l just keep my fingers crossed and stay observant.
The only person who has ever asked how l was managing was the surgeon who did my knee replacements.
You may have slipped through the (potentially large) cracks of the NHS. I'd give your BCN (am hoping you had one during treatment in 2017) a call or failing that the hospital or your GP to get things back on track.
Like others commenting I have a follow up with nurse which will be 6 months post surgery and have an annual mammogram.
Hope you get things sorted.

I had my op mid March 2020 since then (apart from radiotherapy) I’ve had one call from BCN who told me to remove dressings myself, one visit to surgeon as I had infection and that’s been it! Don’t see my oncologist until October! I was putting this down to Covid but now I’m not so sure. Is it basically you’ve had your op here’s your tablets, bye?!!
